The Virtual Reality room is a spacious desk free room with four wall-mounted high-powered computers fitted with the Window’s Mixed Reality VR headsets and hand controllers. Students are able to put on the headset and enter a fully immersive virtual world whilst their classmates can watch what they are doing on the five large LCD screens. Virtual reality is a rapidly growing technology with VR being utilised not only in game and entertainment but also in training pilots, surgeons, and engineers as well as developing digital artwork and design. Studies have shown being able to interact with ideas and concepts using VR provides users with a richer learning experience.
Students have access at lunchtimes and classes are using the room and its technology to teach different concepts and skills. Before students can gain access to the VR room an
Acceptable use of ICT Systems form
is required to be signed by both student and parent/guardian and returned to the office. It would be great to see all students benefit from this room and its technology so it is important these forms come back signed!
