Vocational Education and Training Coordinators (VET Coordinators), are staff experienced in school to work pathways and overseeing vocational education and competency based learning within a traditional school environment.

Vocational Education and Training Coordinators make valuable links with industry to enable staff to remain up to date with current workplace trends and offer students work experience opportunities.

It is the responsibility of the Vocational Education and Training Coordinator to make links between students and employers and to communicate opportunities available to all parties involved. School-based apprenticeships or traineeships are available to students at either the Woree State High School or SchoolTech campuses.

Prior to a students' signing into a contract to commence a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship, lengthy discussions are held regarding employment and training pathways, and the benefits in relation to the Queensland Certificate of Education. All students achieving a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship are referred to the Guidance Officer for career advice.

The role of the Vocational Education and Training Coordinator also encompasses the BEACON Foundation program. This award winning program compliments Education Queensland's Service Agreement of a future in education, employment or training, the delivery of ICA10111 - Certificate I in Information, Digital Media and Technology and the set plan process.

Throughout the school year, the Vocational Education and Training Coordinator organises a number of events to encourage a positive pathway to training or employment for all Year 10 students. Students attend industry visits, participate in community projects, host business events, and participate in personal grooming and public sessions. The year concludes with the 'BEACON Charter Signing', pledging a commitment from students, parents, school, business and community representatives towards a future involving education, employment or training.

Students are encouraged to have regular contact with the Vocational Education and Training Coordinator to discuss employment opportunities, SET Plan goals and certificate courses available.

Parents are welcome to contact the Vocational Education and Training Coordinator to discuss opportunities for their student.
