There is no part of life untouched by science. In an increasingly technological world, grounding in science is essential to participating fully in our communities.
The Woree State High School science program offers a hands on investigative course where student have the opportunities to participate a variety of units, each aligned with traditional strands of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space Sciences all aligned to the Australian Curriculum.
Students will develop a basic grounding in Science through Years 7-10, completing the same types of assessment and experiences they will complete in the senior years. Science is offered as a core subject in Years 7-10, whilst in Year 10, students have the optional electives of Science Enrichment (Academic pathway) and Introduction to Aquatic Practices (Enterprise pathway).
In Years 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to pursue QCAA subjects including Aquatic Practices, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These courses of study will allow the students to continue developing skills in order to pursue future careers. The Science department is located in M Block and uses its well-stocked, maintained and recently refurbished laboratories to offer a broad range of learning experiences.
